master planning
The studio views Master Planning as an important step in any multiple phased campus design. We have designed over 80 Master Plans, primarily for religious and school entities. These projects varied from new campuses on vacant rural land to dense in-fill projects in urban areas. Usually, phasing of construction is a basic tenet of the design parameters. Philosophically, we generally attempt to create a central core/gathering space. This central core provides a place for the “non-programmed” mingling and happenstance events that help create a neighborhood and community. This philosophy leads to the creation of a cohesive campus. We typically approach each project from the future perspective and attempt to realize our client’s goals over time through phased implementation, while working under programmatic, budget and schedule criteria.
