domusstudio architecture is a design-oriented studio which was founded in 1986 with our driving focus on Creative + Sustainable + Enriching | Collaborative Design.  We are looking for people who are passionate about creating spaces that make people think.  Our owner occupied design typologies include sacred facilities, fire stations, libraries, K-12 (for both public and private institutions), higher education, senior housing, multi-family residential and custom single family residential projects; all uniquely tailored and prototypical to their place, use and goals. domusstudio has signed onto the AIA 2030 Commitment with a goal of net zero emissions in the built environment. As a studio team member, you will work directly with Principals and Associates with the intent to be involved from the beginning of a project through its completion.  Our AIA and SDAF Orchid award winning studio overlooks Maple Canyon in Bankers Hill.  The Bankers Hill neighborhood is centrally located, is filled with establishments with a Walk Score of 90 out of 100, and is one block off of bike and transit lanes. 

Qualifications include at a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, a California Licensed Architect (preferred) with eight years+ work experience. Compensation will be paid hourly and commensurate with experience ranging from $100K – $130K plus bonus and profit sharing. Candidate would embody the following:

  • Responsible for finished plans, specifications or approval of materials and construction;
  • Required supervision of Architect(s) and Designers/Job Captain(s) associated with a project ;
  • Poses the ability to apply sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principals’ and practices in a broad array of assignments and related fields;
  • Ability to act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities;
  • Requires use of advanced techniques and modifications/extension of theories, precepts and practices;
  • Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters;
  • Requires excellent design skills, self-starter and personally motivated;
  • Technically proficient in Revit;
  • DSA and educational experience is a plus.

Our benefit package includes full coverage health insurance with optional policies, Flex Spending Account, three weeks PTO, fifty-six hours of paid holidays, 401K plan with an annual Profit Sharing contribution, and an Individual Development Support Fund for furthering education and professional membership dues with active participation. Reimbursable State of California License renewal fees (after established employment). We value our personal time and growth experiences outside of the studio and work 40 hours/week, Monday-Thursday 7:30-5:30 with half days Friday 8-12.  We are an E.O.E. and strive to implement strategies for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

  • Required to be competent in all conventional aspects of architecture;
  • Required to perform work requiring independent judgement in evaluation, selection and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria;
  • Independently solves problems encountered;
  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex issues and supervisory approval on proposed project plans;
  • Independently makes decisions on significant architectural design problems and methods;
  • Requires excellent design skills, self-starter and personally motivated;
  • Technically proficient in Revit;
  • DSA and educational experience is a plus.
