domusstudio architecture was established by Lew Dominy in 1986, and began as Dominy + Associates Architects. In 2001, domusstudio architecture was created with a partnership to continue the studio beyond the Dominy name and acknowledged the collaboration that others contributed. Today, Principals Jon Dominy, Wayne Holtan, David Keitel, David Pfeifer and John Pyjar lead a creative, cohesive and collaborative group of architects and designers, which together have and continue to garner design awards, winning competitions, and winning repeat clients.
CPHC, LEED Green Associate
Marie attended UC Santa Barbara where she earned degrees in Architectural History and Environmental Studies in 2014. Driven by a passion for high performance building, she also has a certificate in Green Building and Sustainable Design, and is a LEED Green Associate and Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC). Her primary experience is in custom residential, restaurants, and small commercial projects. Wanting to return to her native roots in San Diego, she joined domusstudio in 2019 and is currently working toward her architectural license. When she’s not in the studio, you’ll be sure to find her enjoying the outdoors – running by the beach or hiking in the mountains with her dogs.
Sean grew up in New York, and received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2010. Since then he’s worked in various niches of the architecture field, in Florida, New York City and Seattle. He is a registered architect in Maryland and Washington state, and has worked on single-family homes, commercial interiors & window displays, digital fabrication, and multi-family residential projects before coming to domusstudio. He is interested in digital fabrication, computational design, parametrics, new technologies and how they can all be leveraged in the everyday office workflow.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Loyola University of Chicago, Jill moved from Chicago to San Diego. Since then Jill has held business management roles in professional services including architecture, engineering, supply chain, legal and real estate. In the studio Jill is charge of accounting, finance, contracts, insurance, human resources and risk management.

Jon joined the studio in 2000. He graduated from Sci-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) in 1998 and worked on his own for several years in development and in steel fabrication before joining the studio. He has a major role in the site and building design process within the studio, working collaboratively with other studio members, casting the architectural vision. Jon is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Lisa D’Ambrosia joined the studio in 2004. She is a California registered architect with experience in educational, hospitality and residential projects. She attended California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo where she received her Bachelor of Architecture. She then went on to complete her Master of Architecture through Syracuse University’s study abroad program in Florence, Italy. She is the Project Architect on various larger projects in the studio.

After completing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Ball State University, Jennifer moved from central Indiana to southern California. Jennifer graduated with a Master of Architecture degree in 2016 from Woodbury University – San Diego. Jennifer was involved in the American Institute of Architecture Students serving as chapter co-president and various board positions. She was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi medal for her achievements in both her undergraduate and graduate studies. Jennifer is an Associate AIA member.

Wayne joined the Studio in 1993. While attending the University of Minnesota he participated in their Europe travel program. After three months abroad, he and his fellow students presented an exhibit of their work and published a book, Townscapes. He graduated with degrees in both Architecture and Environmental Design. He is a Master Commissioner with the California Architect’s Board, active in the development of the Supplemental Exam. Wayne is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Ivan graduated with a Bachelors of Art/Architecture in 2017 – Summa Cum Laude, including a term studying abroad in Milan, Italy. He was actively involved with the American Institute of Architecture Students serving as various board positions and United States Green Building Council – East Los Angeles Chapter and San Diego Chapter serving as President along with other board positions. Ivan will be completing his Masters in Architecture in 2019 from NewSchool of Architecture and Design. Ivan is an Associate AIA Member.
Abril received her Bachelor’s in Architecture from Universidad Iberoamericana, campus Tijuana, México, in 2014. After graduating with honors, she worked for three years in a Design- Build firm based in Tijuana where she gained valuable experience in design and project management. Abril is graduating with a Master’s of Architecture in 2018 from Newschool of Architecture and Design.

David joined the studio in 1993 and is a Principal at domusstudio. Originally from Wisconsin, he attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies undergraduate degree. He then attended Arizona State University on a tuition scholarship and earned a Master of Architecture in 1991. David has extensive sacred and residential experience and plays a collaborative role in the overall design process and interior design of the studio projects along with studio management. David is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
LEED AP BD+C
Originally from Southeast Louisiana, Adam attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Bachelors of Architecture in 2009 as a Distinguished Scholar. After becoming a Registered Louisiana architect, he earned a Master’s of Science in Real Estate Development from Woodbury University, San Diego. He has worked in multiple architecture and design firms and on projects of all types, sizes, and complexity. Adam’s interests range from detailing and craftsmanship to land use issues and development.
Scott is a California licensed architect and a native San Diegan. He attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Architecture. Part of his studies include a year abroad at the re-opened Bauhaus University in Germany. At domusstudio he loves improving the built environment with thoughtful architecture and master planning. Before joining the studio, Scott worked in construction project management and he applies that practical experience to the studio design process.

Michael joined the studio at the end of 2017. He attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark. Michael is a California registered architect with experience in affordable housing, custom residential, corporate architecture, and commercial development. He is passionate about the architectural process and holistic design. Michael is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Robert graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture. In his second year he was awarded the school’s Presidential Scholarship for academic excellence. Robert was licensed as an Architect by the State of California in 2003 and joined the studio in 2005. He has experience working on a variety of award-winning architecture projects from public libraries, to water filtration plants, and custom residential remodels. He has a passion for excellence in both the aesthetic and technical aspects of design.
Growing up in NY and CT, Jeff first experienced craftsmanship by working in construction as a summer job. His love for craft led him towards completing an Associate’s degree in Architecture and Engineering Technology from NCC in 2011 and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2017 from Boston Architectural College. Outside of the office, Jeff is a motorcycle enthusiast and adventurer. He enjoys being surrounded by nature, traveling, playing boards games and experiencing new food with his wife Mina.

David began his career with the studio in 1987. While enrolled at the New School of Architecture, where he earned his degree, he won a scholarship for having a “Distinguished Thesis Design” and was chosen as one of nine notable students to be published in a book titled Nine San Diego Architects. David later returned to his alma mater as a Professor where he was honored as both “Teacher of the Year” and “Alumni of the Year”. He was a member of the Kensington-Talmadge Planning Association.…

John joined studio in 1989. Originally from Michigan, John attended the University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors. In 2001, John won the Young Architect of the Year award by the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architects along with Oliver Macmillan. John works collaboratively with the studio on senior housing and child development centers. John is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Toni Pyjar received her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin. She has worked at firms in Austin and San Diego, specializing in commercial and institutional buildings.
Toni has been a registered California architect since 1990. Returning to architecture after raising a family, she joined the studio in 2018.
Originally from Minnesota, she attended Iowa State University and moved to San Diego shortly after graduation. She has a background in a range of commercial work including fire stations, libraries, and animal care facilities. Amanda is passionate about creating a space that is not only visually pleasing but also functional and improves the experience of the end user
Tommy graduated from the University of California-San Diego in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts/History and a minor in Photography. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, he attended the Newschool of Architecture in San Diego and received his Master of Architecture degree in 2012. Tommy worked for several architecture firms along with the Unified Port of San Diego before joining the studio in 2014. Tommy collaborates within the studio on a broad range of projects with a specialty in Revit and other design related computer software.
Jessica joined the studio in 2014 after completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. During school, she also pursued a minor in Design for Sustainability. Jessica is an integral part of the studio and collaborates with other staff members and is a Revit specialist.

Kellie graduated from Ball State University in 2003 w/ dual degrees in both Architecture and Environmental Design along with a minor in Historic Preservation. After college Kellie lived in London, UK before making her way to San Diego. She is a California registered architect and is LEED AP certified with experience in hospitality, government, sacred, commercial & educational architecture. Kellie joined domusstudio in 2019 and is passionate about the creative and collaborative process – working with a team to turn vision into reality. When she’s not in the office, you’ll find Kellie outside – hiking, exploring and enjoying time with her family.

Nicholas completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Southern California receiving his Master of Architecture degree in 2013. He worked for several architecture firms of varying types before joining the studio in 2017. Nicholas is a California registered architect with experience in retail, residential, and restaurant projects. He has a passion for all aspects of the design and construction process, from concept to completion. Nicholas is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Diane graduated from NewSchool of Architecture + Design in 2014 with a Bachelor of Architecture. Born and raised in sunny San Diego, Diane joined the studio in 2017 and collaborates with other staff members on projects. Through design, she passionately thrives to improve the human experience by enhancing the use of our senses. Diane is a Certified Interior Designer and an associate member of the American Institute of Architects.
