Carlsbad Fire Station #2

The city of Carlsbad wanted to replace the old severely outdated existing station with a new two-story (approx. 9,000 sq) station and associated site elements. domusstudio guided the project thru Concept Design, Neighborhood Meetings & Design Review, with a blend of historical referenced materials, detailing, and landscape incorporated into a contemporary design application.  A three/double depth apparatus bay design complements the living and dorm areas for the fire fighter staff with associated living and working amenities. Site Plan options were studied for this extremely tight site, ultimately leading to a custom controlled drive-thru facility.

domusstudio continued working with the City through the design process, completing Bridging Documents and finally assisting the City through the facility’s construction by the Design Build Contractor team.
