domusstudio architecture was established by Lew Dominy in 1986, and began as Dominy + Associates Architects. In 2001, domusstudio architecture was created with a partnership to continue the studio beyond the Dominy name and acknowledged the collaboration that others contributed. Today, Principals Jon Dominy, Wayne Holtan, David Keitel, David Pfeifer and John Pyjar lead a creative, cohesive and collaborative group of architects and designers, which together have and continue to garner design awards, winning competitions, and winning repeat clients.
Originally from New York, Chris is an Arizona registered architect with experience including work on several award winning custom residential, public library, educational, and religious projects. After graduating with honors from Syracuse University with his Bachelor of Architecture degree, Chris moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he had the opportunity to work with a number of the top architects in the state and run his own custom furniture design shop. Chris relocated to San Diego and joined the studio in 2009.

Jon joined the studio in 2000. He graduated from Sci-Arc (Southern California Institute of Architecture) in 1998 and worked on his own for several years in development and in steel fabrication before joining the studio. He has a major role in the site and building design process within the studio, working collaboratively with other studio members, casting the architectural vision. Jon is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Lisa D’Ambrosia joined the studio in 2004. She is a California registered architect with experience in educational, hospitality and residential projects. She attended California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo where she received her Bachelor of Architecture. She then went on to complete her Master of Architecture through Syracuse University’s study abroad program in Florence, Italy. She is the Project Architect on various larger projects in the studio.
After completing a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Ball State University, Jennifer moved from central Indiana to southern California. Jennifer is graduating with a Master of Architecture degree in 2016 from Woodbury University – San Diego. Jennifer has been involved in the American Institute of Architecture Students serving as chapter co-president and various board positions. She was awarded the Alpha Rho Chi medal for her achievements in her undergraduate studies.

Wayne joined the Studio in 1993. While attending the University of Minnesota he participated in their Europe travel program. After three months abroad, he and his fellow students presented an exhibit of their work and published a book, Townscapes. He graduated with degrees in both Architecture and Environmental Design. He is a Master Commissioner with the California Architect’s Board, supplemental oral exam licensing. Wayne is a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Originally from Wisconsin, David attended the University of Wisconsin | Milwaukee and in 1989 earned a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies. He then moved to Arizona and attended Arizona State University on a tuition scholarship and earned a Master of Architecture in 1991. While at ASU, he was a teaching assistant and taught an architectural summer course at the College of Architecture. David joined the studio in 1993 and plays a collaborative roll in the overall design process and interior design. David is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Scott graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2012 with a Bachelor of Architecture. Scott entered the studio coming with a Construction Project Management background and brings hands-on building and practical experience to the studio process.
Robert graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture. In his second year he was awarded the school’s Presidential Scholarship for academic excellence. Robert was licensed as an Architect by the State of California in 2003 and joined the studio in 2005. He has experience working on a variety of award-winning architecture projects from public libraries, to water filtration plants, and custom residential remodels. He has a passion for excellence in both the aesthetic and technical aspects of design.

David began his career with the studio in 1987. While enrolled at the New School of Architecture, where he earned his degree, he won a scholarship for having a “Distinguished Thesis Design” and was chosen as one of nine notable students to be published in a book titled Nine San Diego Architects. David later returned to his alma mater as a Professor where he was honored as both “Teacher of the Year” and “Alumni of the Year”. He was a member of the Kensington-Talmadge Planning Association.…

John joined studio in 1989. Originally from Michigan, John attended the University of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship. He completed his Bachelor of Architecture degree with honors. In 2001, John won the Young Architect of the Year award by the San Diego Chapter of the American Institute of Architects along with Oliver Macmillan. John works collaboratively with the studio on senior housing and child development centers. John is a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Tommy graduated from the University of California-San Diego in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts/History and a minor in Photography. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, he attended the Newschool of Architecture in San Diego and received his Master of Architecture degree in 2012. Tommy worked for several architecture firms along with the Unified Port of San Diego before joining the studio in 2014. Tommy collaborates within the studio on a broad range of projects with a specialty in Revit and other design related computer software.
Jessica joined the studio in 2014 after completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architecture and Master of Architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. During school, she also pursued a minor in Design for Sustainability. Jessica is an integral part of the studio and collaborates with other staff members and is a Revit specialist.
LEED Green Associate
Thuan received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration at the California State University, Long Beach and went on to receive a Master of Architecture at Cal State Polytechnic University in Pomona. He joined the studio in 2002 but went on to pursue other ventures a year later. He re-joined the studio in 2008 with more experience in project types such as commercial tenant improvements, custom residential (single + multi-family) and restaurant design.
A San Diego native, Albert attended the University of Southern California, earning a Bachelor of Architecture in 2006. After graduation, he worked for a large contracting firm gaining valuable field and project management experience. Albert uses those crucial lessons to cultivate ideas of design and constructability into every project.
Melanie was raised in Northern California where she was educated in liberal arts and home economics but then switched to business and graduated in 1971 with a Business degree from Bay City College in San Francisco. She also studied under Jacki DeCello, pastel artist as an apprentice for five years. In 1976 she started her own accounting business and joined domusstudio in 2002 as the Office Administrator in charge of accounting, finance, contracts, insurance, human resource issues and risk management. The studio provides a culture of creativity which nourishes her artistic side.
